Debunking Sleepwalking Myths
Sleepwalking is surprising that while one of the most experienced sleep disturbances, it is also one of the least understood. Let’s take a closer look at the causes and solutions for this curious condition.
One common concept of sleepwalking, also known as somnambulism, is a person sleepwalks because the subconscious is consumed with negative emotions such as shame, guilt or fear. Sleepwalking is not necessarily affected by painful feelings; stress and anxiety are also known to cause sleepwalking disorder. The source of stress may be linked to something like the difficulty of taking care of a sick family member. Stress may lead to sleepwalking too simply because it is often more difficult to sleep during stressful times.
